THE temporary ban on Czech Republic domestic and wild pigs and their products and by-products has recently been lifted, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said.

The order, issued Feb. 2 through Department Circular 07, series of 2026, was signed by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

The pork import ban was imposed in 2022 due to an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in the Czech Republic.

It was lifted following reports from Czech Republic veterinary authorities to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) saying that the ASF cases have been resolved, with no new outbreaks.

Based on evaluations, the risk of contamination from live pigs, pork meat, pig skin, and semen from the Czech Republic is now negligible, the DA said, adding that importation of the aforementioned products may resume.

The order is effective 15 days after publication on the DA’s website and its filing with the Office of the National Administrative Register at the University of the Philippines Law Center.
