Delhi Police arrested a member of the notorious Naveen Dabas gang who was wanted in connection with a firing incident on a medical store in Jhajjar, Haryana in a bid to extort money, officials said on Monday.

The arrested was identified as Chirag alias Sachin (22) a resident of Kharkhoda, Sonipat district, Haryana.

The action was followed by a tipoff regarding the movement of a shooter of gangster Naveen Dabas alias Jora in Rohini with illegal arms and ammunition and raid was conducted in the area resulting in the arrest of the duo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Naara Chaitanya said in a press statement.

The DCP added that the duo was in touch with Dabas who is operating from Dubai and based on his directions, they went to Jhajjar and fired at a medical store there for extortion and later Dabas threatened the store owner on phone.

Accordingly, a case was registered at Jhajjar Police Station, Haryana.

As per police, Chirag has studied upto Class 10. He had worked at a general store in Kharkhoda from 2020-2022. Later, he came in contact of gangster Dabas on social media apps and through his friend Mohit.

Mohit and Jatin were arrested by Haryana police, but he was on the run and in touch with Dabas who directed him to reach Delhi and wait for further instructions.

The cops recovered a sophisticated pistol and four live cartridges from his possession.
