Dad and daughter die in tragedy at beach in Cornwall

  • A father and daughter died after encountering difficulties in the sea at Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall, on Sunday evening.
  • Police were called around 9.45pm on 26 July, where the man in his 60s and woman in her 30s, both from Doncaster, were pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency services' efforts.
  • The family of the deceased woman is appealing for the return of a sentimental, peach or orange-coloured leather-style handbag, approximately 30cm by 30cm, which she was carrying.
  • Separately, on Sunday afternoon, one man died and another was hospitalised after getting into difficulty in the water off a beach near Pound Road in West Wittering, Sussex.
  • Emergency services responded to the West Wittering incident around 2.30pm, where the two men, who were not believed to have known each other, were pulled from the sea.
