Dad rushes home to save pregnant wife and young son from man who broke into home after ranting on doorbell cam

A father rushed home to his family after a man broke into their home following a doorbell camera rant.

Fairfield Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Burbank Court on 7 April after a report of an unknown male attempting to force entry into a home occupied by a woman and child.

The homeowner’s husband, who was away at the time, saw the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jason Nichols, through a home security camera and immediately returned to the residence.

Police said the suspect tried to break in by kicking the front door, before gaining entry through a sliding glass door.

The homeowner returned, armed with a shovel, and confronted Nichols. Both sustained head injuries during a physical altercation.

Nichols was later booked on multiple felony charges.
