According to GuangMingDaily, a Malaysian man was left devastated after discovering that his child had scribbled all over his passport… just hours before he was supposed to fly overseas.
According to a post shared by @Empatdua.ebonylane on Threads, the man’s passport had been covered in blue ballpoint-pen scribbles, with drawings and marks appearing across almost the entire document.
The worst part? He only discovered the damage while packing his luggage for his flight that evening.
In disbelief, he reportedly said that he had no idea when his child had gotten hold of the passport or how long the little artist had been busy “improving” it.
“I really feel like crying. I’m supposed to catch a flight tonight, but while packing my luggage, I discovered that my child had been scribbling all over my passport. I didn’t even notice when the child took it,” he shared.
Unfortunately, the problem was more serious than simply having a messy-looking passport.
After checking the document, immigration officers reportedly classified it as a damaged passport, meaning the man could not use it to travel as planned.
With his flight only hours away, he had little choice but to change his travel arrangements.
He explained that the immigration officer responsible for handling the matter was not on duty on Saturday, so he was told that the passport issue could only be dealt with on Monday.
As a result, he had to postpone his flight and pay an additional RM620 in ticket-change fees.
“I was told they could help me handle it on Monday. I could only accept reality and admit that I definitely wouldn’t be flying tonight. In the end, I changed my ticket and spent another RM620,” he said.
Despite the frustrating situation and unexpected expense, the man eventually decided to take it in stride.
“Conclusion: Learn to accept fate. Once you accept it, you feel calmer. At least I can laugh about it now,” he joked.
The incident attracted plenty of sympathy online, with many netizens empathising with his unfortunate timing while praising him for remaining relatively calm.
One commenter suggested that when plans suddenly fail, perhaps there is a better arrangement waiting in the future.
Another praised his attitude, saying that he had handled the situation calmly and that perhaps everything happens for a reason, even if the reason is not immediately clear.
As for the child responsible for the passport artwork, there is no word yet on whether the little artist understands that the masterpiece just cost Dad RM620… and an overseas trip.
