Manchester City hero Alf-Inge Haaland warned fans not to expect his son Erling Haaland to score in every match.

The Norway striker was surprisingly off his game in arguably the team's biggest game of the season so far.

City continued their miserable record at Anfield in recent years, losing 1-0 to Jurgen Klopp's team and going four points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Speaking to former Norway teammate Jan Aage Fjørtoft pre-game, Haaland Snr spoke about the expectations around his son.

"It's a lot of attention at the moment, he's had a great start to the season so it's about maintaining it but we know also there will be some days where he doesn't score," he said.

"It's going to be tough but we're trying as best we can not to get too focused on everything that happens next to the pitch."
