- Liberal Democrat MP Munira Wilson has introduced draft legislation to ban the possession of child-like sex dolls in England and Wales.
- Possessing such dolls is currently legal in the UK, although importing them can be prosecuted under existing customs laws.
- The Child-like Sexual Abuse Dolls (Offences) Bill would treat possession similarly to possessing indecent images of children, allowing police to seize the items and place offenders on the sex offenders register.
- Child protection charity the Lucy Faithfull Foundation warned that the dolls normalise adult sexual behaviour with children and reinforce dangerous fantasies.
- The private member's Bill is scheduled for its second reading in the House of Commons on 4 September and will require government support to become law.
