  • He will star in Anemone, the feature directorial debut of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, with whom he also co-wrote the screenplay.
  • Day-Lewis expressed regret over his definitive retirement statement, explaining he merely wanted to pursue other work and never lost his love for acting.
  • The three-time Oscar winner previously took a five-year break from acting in 1997 to apprentice as a shoemaker in Florence.
  • Anemone, which explores complex family relationships and also features Sean Bean and Samantha Morton, is set to be released in cinemas on 3 October.
