A Danish man has been charged in Hamburg for allegedly spying on Jewish people on behalf of an Iranian intelligence service preparing attacks in Germany.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, based in the western city of Karlsruhe, brought charges against the man on Thursday over alleged murder plots.

An Afghan co-defendant has been charged with attempted complicity in murder.

Concern has risen since the beginning of the war in Iran about attacks on Jews in Europe being carried out with Tehran's backing.
