- Far-right activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, attended Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning to observe the hearing of Daniel Thomas, known as Danny Tommo.
- Daniel Thomas, 37, of no fixed address, faces charges of criminal damage after allegedly slashing a boat in the English Channel while an emergency responder was on board on Tuesday 22 September.
- Thomas was additionally charged on Thursday evening with failing to disclose the PIN to his mobile phone to police under Section 53 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
- Around 300 protesters gathered outside a Basingstoke police investigation centre on Thursday evening carrying Union flags and chanting support before dispersing when charges were formally announced.
- The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that criminal proceedings are active as Thomas was remanded in custody to appear at court via videolink, reminding the public of his right to a fair trial.
