DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming has criticised Perikatan Nasional for using caricatures that mocked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook during the nominations for the Ayer Kuning by-election.

Nga condemned it as “inappropriate” and “immature,” arguing that such caricatures divert attention from critical national issues.

“These actions aim to distract us from the real challenges we need to address together, such as the tariff war initiated by US President Donald Trump.”

Earlier, supporters of PN, Barisan Nasional, and Parti Sosialis Malaysia gathered to support their candidates for the by-election in Tapah, Perak.

PN supporters were seen holding caricatures of Anwar and Loke. One poster depicted Anwar with a distressed expression, surrounded by labels like “tax hikes,” “subsidy removal,” “medical insurance cost hike,” and “ringgit depreciation” in Malay, English, and Chinese.

Another poster showed Loke making a “shush” gesture.

“This kind of behaviour does not contribute to the country’s progress,” BERNAMA cited Nga saying today, adding,

“It is a cheap attempt to divert public attention from real and pressing issues. Political debates should be based on policies, development plans, and constructive proposals — not childish ridicule of individuals.”
