Cloud computing pioneer Databricks announced the expansion of Databricks on Google Cloud in the Asia Pacific area, with availability on Google Cloud's Singapore and Sydney regions for customers across Asia-Pacific. A lakehouse capable of data engineering, data science, machine learning and analytics on Google Cloud's global, scalable and elastic network is now easier than ever for enterprises in Southeast Asia to adopt Databricks on Google Cloud.

Following the initial launch of the relationship last year, the Databricks Lakehouse Platform on Google Cloud is now being used by hundreds of customers across every industry. Customers in Southeast Asia are increasingly demanding an open, modern lakehouse architecture in order to speed up their cloud data strategy. Customer flexibility and data localisation are strengthened by using Databricks on the Google Cloud in Singapore, which guarantees local data residency requirements.

True Analytics, a business unit of True Digital Group, relies on analysing enormous volumes of data to create world-class B2B solutions and services that satisfy our customers in the Asia Pacific region. Our data scientists, engineers, and analysts can utilise Databricks on Google Cloud as a lakehouse to consolidate, communicate, analyse, and experiment with all of our worldwide data efficiently. Junjun Olympia, Head of Product and Platform Engineering at True Analytics, a True Digital Group company, said, "We're delighted to see leaders like Google Cloud and Databricks work together to expedite and simplify generating value from data."

Using Google Cloud Databricks, clients may take advantage of a wide range of data analytics services, including Google Big Query, Looker, Google Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub. An open, modern data platform for all analytics use cases is now available to enterprises in Southeast Asia and Australia as a result of this expansion of Databricks lakehouse capabilities and cross-leveraging of Google BigQuery.

To address the rapidly expanding data and AI communities of Southeast Asia, Databricks continues to make major investments in establishing our local capabilities in Singapore, says Andrew Martin, Head of South Asia at Databricks. "We're seeing a tremendous amount of interest across the region, from fast-growing digital natives to huge multinational corporations." We are looking forward to working with Google to help our customers in the region accelerate their data and AI journey together."

Google Cloud's Amitabh Jacob, VP of APAC Technology, ISV and Solutions Partnerships, predicts that Southeast Asia's Internet economy will rise to $1 trillion by the end of the decade. Companies will be able to leverage the power of data and tap into developing digital models thanks to our strategic relationship with Databricks to deploy lakehouse architecture on Google Cloud's regional, scalable platform and joint expertise in data engineering and AI-driven analytics.

This is especially true in Southeast Asia, which has the fastest-growing digital economy in Asia. From 2020 to 2024, Deloitte estimates that the Asia Pacific economy will gain an additional $160 billion from the use of cloud services.

With a large ecosystem of cooperative partners, Databricks and Google Cloud are able to provide seamless connections and expertise across platforms, such as Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte and Informatica; as well as Qlik and Tableau; TCS; and Trifacta.
