Kota Kinabalu: Two Sabah DAP representatives who recently accepted Datukships from the Head of State have apologised for violating their party’s stance on not accepting titles and awards during their active political service.
Sabah DAP committee member Datuk Chan Foong Hin and Sabah DAP Secretary Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, in a joint statement, said they accepted the strong reprimand from the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) and are ready “to accept the party’s guidance and advice with humility and an open mind.”
“Although we had previously explained, stressing our obligation to respect the goodwill from the Governor of Sabah and the State Government, we understand this should not be an excuse to undermine the party’s principle and policy.
