Daughter’s heartfelt eulogy a fitting farewell for Lamb

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah said goodbye to probably one of the most remarkable expats who knew the biodiversity of Borneo best, especially Sabah. Datuk Anthony Lamb died on Jan 31. He was 86.

The renowned botanist, born in July 1937, was cremated Monday in a packed Anglican funeral service at Fook Lu Siew Funeral Parlour.

“His death is a great loss to the country and to the world,” said publisher Datuk CL Chan who had known Lamb for half a century and had published eight acclaimed botanical books authored by Lamb.

Present at the funeral service include Lamb’s wife, Datin Anthea Phillips, a nepenthes specialist, Lamb’s sister, Jane Barrett-Panton and husband who flew in from London, Lamb’s two children, daughter Serena, husband Aaron Harrison and son Alexander.
