Davao artist debunks Madriaga claim that he 'gifted' a painting to Sara

MANILA, Philippines — A Davao-based visual artist has debunked the claim of Vice President Sara Duterte’s alleged bagman that he was the one who gifted a painting to her to prove his personal connection.

In his affidavit, Ramil Madriaga said that he gifted the said painting that is now hanging in Duterte’s office.

But in an Instagram story, visual artist Tanya Gaisano-Lee debunked Madriaga’s claim, saying that she gifted the painting to Duterte in 2021.

“Anything stated otherwise is false. I am not a scholar, I am not from Laguna, I am from Davao, life is here!” Lee said.

Gaisano-Lee is a self-taught artist basd in Davao city and is said to be influenced by her personal experiences.
