With how much rain has been pouring recently, flash floods can happen anywhere at any time.
According to Astro Awani, the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) has identified 14 other hotspots in KL where flash floods are prone to happen. This might come in handy to those who are often in the area, including Jalan Syed Putra, Jalan Peel, and Jalan Dutamas.

- Jalan Genting Kelang (UTAR and Shell),
- Lorong Titiwangsa 11
- Jalan Pahang Barat
- Jalan Tun Razak
The identification was done to speed up the mitigation process to curb the issue, and DBKL is currently reviewing the best immediate steps to take to overcome them.
Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the mayor of KL, said she is confident that the issue can be handled and the impact can be lessened following the same steps taken in 25 hotspot locations previously.
“On Wednesday night (August 22), only 1 of these 25 hotspots was flooded. This shows that what DBKL has done so far (the flood protection project) has been very good in helping to prevent and reduce the risk of flooding,” Dr Maimunah said.
The continuous downpour in multiple areas in KL recently has caused flash floods in certain areas, especially during peak hours. The areas include Segambut Bypass, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Pahang, Jalan Genting-Klang and Jalan Dutamas. Many cars were submerged in the flood during the disaster.
