Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched a special operation to clear illegal objects used to reserve parking spots in the Wangsa Maju area.
During the enforcement carried out on October 11, 2024, six compounds were issued, and various objects, including plastic bottles, broken tires, and even drying racks, were confiscated.
This crackdown came after numerous complaints from residents who noticed that some individuals were using random items to “chope” parking spaces, making it difficult for others to park.
The trend has become particularly rampant in shoplots and densely populated areas, where parking is already limited.
In some residential areas, the situation was even more extreme, with residents using large plastic barrels to reserve whole sections of the road.
However, all these makeshift barricades were eventually cleared by the authorities.
DBKL is continuing to monitor the situation and will take action where necessary.
The public is encouraged to report any instances of illegal parking spot reservations via the official DBKL channels.
