MANILA, Philippines—Mamamayang Liberal Rep. Leila de Lima paid tribute to the late president Benigno Aquino III on his 66th birthday anniversary on Sunday.
"Happy birthday in heaven, PNoy!" de Lima said with a white heart emoji.
"With everything that is happening in our country today, we not only miss him, but are also reminded of the significance of the principles he fought for: integrity, moral courage, accountability, national dignity and justice," she said.
"Thank you very much, PNoy, for being a true inspiration, for showing us real leadership and sincere service not only wholeheartedly and faithfully, but honorably and courageously," she said in Filipino.
Aquino served as president from 2010 to 2016. He died on June 24, 2021 at the age of 61.
