Today, the Magistrate's Court scheduled July 25 for the re-mention of the case involving 13 male students from a vocational college, charged with the murder of a fellow student last March. The accused, aged between 16 and 19, are alleged to have jointly killed 17-year-old Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat Mohd Narul Azwan. The incident occurred in Dormitory Rooms 7 Resak and 5 Belian at Lahad Datu Vocational College between 9 PM on March 21 and 7:38 AM on March 22.

The students are charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 24, which prescribes the death penalty or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years and up to 12 lashes upon conviction. Given that the case involves minors, proceedings before Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani were conducted behind closed doors.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ng Juhn Tao led the prosecution. Eight of the 13 accused were represented by lawyers Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, Datuk Ram Singh, Amirul Amin Rashid, and Chen Wen Jye. Lawyer Abdul Ghani Zelika represented one teenager, while the remaining four had no legal representation.

Outside the courtroom, lawyer Kamarudin stated that the chemical report and autopsy results were still pending, necessitating the July 25 date for document submission. He also mentioned that the court had not yet ordered the case to be transferred to the High Court, a step he requested be expedited.

On March 22, Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat was discovered dead with injuries and bruises on several parts of his body in a dormitory room at the college. This prompted the investigation that led to the charges against his peers.

Previously, on May 16, the Magistrate's Court had set today for the re-mention of the case. The next hearing will continue to address pending documents and the potential transfer of the case to the High Court. The legal proceedings are closely monitored, reflecting the gravity of the charges and the need for thorough examination of all evidence.
