Kota Kinabalu: The State Government is again urged to consider lowering the export tax on scrap metal from RM200 to RM50 per metric tonne.

In making the call, Sabah Scrap Metals Recycle Association (SSMRA) President Edwin Chen said the RM200 tax is far too excessive.

He said it has caused a major imbalance in the prices of scrap iron when compared to other locations in Malaysia, and many scrap iron dealers can’t afford to lose their money in this difficult time.
