Dear 25-year-old me,
Finally, the age has got to me. I have 25 years left before you are 50 years old. You are about to finish a degree, considering that 9 years ago, I still remember saying the words: ‘I don’t want to study.'
They say that life begins the moment you leave university, but for me, life has already started the moment I left school.
All I can say is ever since the 8th of May, 2015, my last official day of school before my exams began, that was the moment life began for me. Date back to the 13th of July 2015, the day of my last exam, I was a free man.
That's when life begins.
I knew that the education chapter was closed for me, well, that is what I thought. Life has its twists and turns. That day in 2017, whilst working to work, something in the back of my mind just hit me and boom, as you're reading this, I'm about to finish my degree.
If I were to compare myself to other people, safe to say I did not have the traditional so-called life most people would have.
Most of the time, I see people graduate from secondary school, go to university, graduate with all these accolades and start work. By the time they completed this cycle, they would graduate between the ages of 20-24 on average I would say.
Say to say that life has its twists and turns.
Here are a few things life has taught me as a 25-year-old:
Firstly, be yourself. Just ignore the negativity from others and be yourself. Take feedback which people gave to me in the past and those sorts of feedback are the ones I took, analyse what I can do better and learn from it.
Secondly, be the one who stands out - don't worry about others and worry about yourself. I've had people who judged me for not continuing my education, judged me for doing everything differently and not worried about just doing what needed to be done. Each experience I have gained, through the experiences I have gone through, I know that this will all pay off. I know the minute I get out of college, I want to be the one who stands out amongst the others.
People might look at me as a cocky guy or I always wanted to get the edge over others; however, the only person I am competing against is me, myself and I. That's the only person I'm focusing on.
Lastly, just give it your all and try it to the best of your abilities. I know I'm not the smartest when it comes to education and I know that I am street smart you can say. Work with the abilities and skills that you possess and take advantage of them.
But overall, I'm pleased with the journey that I've been on for the past years since I left school. Thanks to this journey, I've discovered my passion for filmmaking and have been on five projects and counting with myself directing my first-ever film, Lost Chords. Followed by myself winning a few awards for the work I have done thus far and building up my photography experience and having a few jobs along the way.

With that being said, I'm proud of the journey I've been through and here's to another 25 years more.
Best regards,
