You said, quote and unquote:-
- The constitution in Selangor is clear on this; the excos are appointed by the Sultan.
- And the exco will stay as long as the Sultan approves.
- Only the Sultan can issue an order asking them to resign, or to sack them.
Recently, you questioned the Attorney General's view that the dismissal of 10 Negeri Sembilan exco members by Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz was lawful, arguing it allegedly contradicted state constitutional provisions requiring the Menteri Besar's advice.
Article 38(5) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959 specifically handles the tenure, dismissal, and resignation of Exco members.
In Selangor, Article 53 of the Laws of the Constitution of Selangor 1959 operates under the same constitutional principle rules.
Slightly more than 9 years, you strongly state, that only the Sultan of Selangor can issue an order asking the Exco to resign, or to sack them.
Why the change in your position when it comes to Negeri Sembilan as both Negeri Sembilan and Selangor have almost similar constitutional principle rules which are highly similar in intent?
Maybe you should enlighten the public the basis for your stance in the present imbroglio in Negeri Sembilan?
The public is now confused with the flip flop in your stance.
The public views that if a government, that was elected in a democratic system lies in a strict textual and literal reading of the constitutional clauses to stay in power, it is meaningless.
Democratic governance relies heavily on unwritten conventions, institutional checks, and political morality.
When these are ignored in favor of a literal reading that serves self-interest, the government may remain legally valid but loses its moral authority and democratic legitimacy in the eyes of the public.
Return the power to the people of Negeri Sembilan for them to vote and decide again would be more meaningful and in line with democratic ideals.
