Kota Kinabalu: Major John Tulloch was shocked more than a decade ago when he first learnt that 641 British POWs (Prisoners of War) died in the Sandakan-Ranau Death March, a significant number from his former Regiment – the Royal Artillery.

The rest were mostly Australians numbering some 2,000 at the closing stages of the war.

This drove him to mount a determined marathon research to unearth the hidden story.
