THE sudden death of a ten-year-old schoolboy in Senawang is now being investigated as a potential case of bullying, according to Negeri Sembilan police.
The case has been classified under Section 507C of the Penal Code, which addresses offences relating to threatening or harmful communication and actions that compromise personal safety.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that the Year Four pupil was found unconscious in a toilet at his primary school on Monday afternoon, and was later pronounced dead after being rushed to a private medical clinic by the school’s disciplinary teacher.
“At approximately 1.19pm, we received a report concerning the death of a 10-year-old boy who was undergoing treatment at a private clinic,” Alzafny said in an official statement. “The attending doctor confirmed that the child had already passed away upon arrival.”
Initial investigations suggest the pupil had collapsed in the school’s male toilet before being taken for medical attention. A post-mortem examination is currently underway at Hospital Rembau to determine the cause of death.
Alzafny noted that although the case is currently classified under Section 507C, further details will depend on the outcome of the post-mortem and ongoing investigations. “We urge the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding this tragic incident,” he said.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, commenting on the case, assured that the Ministry of Education is fully cooperating with police and that the investigation will proceed with full transparency.
“At this stage, the Ministry is prioritising psychosocial and emotional support for pupils and staff at the affected school,” she said, urging parents not to fear sending their children to school.
The case has sparked concern nationwide, with calls for greater focus on child safety and mental health within the education system. The Ministry confirmed that additional measures are being considered to prevent similar incidents and ensure schools remain safe spaces for learning.
It was earlier reported that the ten-year-old Year Four pupil was found unconscious in the toilet of a primary school in Seremban and later pronounced dead at a private medical centre nearby.
Initial investigations had revealed that the boy was discovered unresponsive in the school toilet before being taken for treatment.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Hospital Rembau to determine the cause of death. Police are investigating the case under Section 507C of the Penal Code, which relates to matters involving the safety of individuals.
The police have urged the public to refrain from speculation or circulating unverified information regarding the incident. - October 2, 2025
