RapidKL has begun rolling out debit and credit card payment options at token vending machines for the Kajang MRT line, with the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Bukit Bintang stations already supporting these methods. In addition to traditional banking cards, commuters can also use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay to purchase tokens at these stations.
A representative from Prasarana, RapidKL’s parent company, confirmed that the implementation is currently in a “trial phase” for the Kajang Line. However, it is important to note that banking cards and contactless payment systems are only accepted at the token vending machines and not at the entry gates of MRT stations.
This initiative aligns with the directive issued by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in 2023 for public transport operators to adopt open payment systems. The rollout is expected to cover all Klang Valley rail lines by August this year.
