World Cup debutants Uzbekistan arrived at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on Tuesday with a significant delay, a day before their opener against Colombia.

The pre-match press conference with coach Fabio Cannavaro, who won the title with Italy in 2006, had to be postponed several times and began 75 minutes late. Officials said this was due to traffic in the Mexican capital.

They had arrived from their training camp in Atlanta.

Traffic in Mexico City is notoriously difficult, particularly in the late afternoon.

Ahead of the opening match involving co-hosts Mexico, the authorities had advised fans to set off six hours before kick-off.
