In a shocking tale of deceit and heartbreak, a 36-year-old photographer found herself entangled in a web of lies as her romantic getaway with a supposed lover turned into a nightmarish revelation. Serdang, a quaint town in Malaysia, became the backdrop for this disheartening story, unfolding against the serene shores of Cherating, Kuantan. The woman's ordeal began when she uncovered the true identity of her lover, a 44-year-old scam artist, while on vacation.

According to Serdang OCPD Asst Comm AA Anbalagan, their ill-fated love story originated on Twitter, where the victim first crossed paths with the enigmatic scammer on June 21. Over the course of just two weeks, their virtual connection evolved into a romantic entanglement. The suspect, masquerading as a successful businessman employed in a prestigious oil company in Sarawak, managed to win the woman's trust.

However, the idyllic vacation in Cherating took a sinister turn when the suspect began soliciting loans totalling RM18,800 from his unsuspecting lover. As their relationship deepened, so did the suspect's audacity. On a fateful day, as they lounged on the pristine beaches of Kuantan, the victim caught a glimpse of her partner's identification card, MyKad. It was then that her world unravelled, for she discovered that he had been concealing his true identity.

Fueled by a mixture of disbelief and a determination to unveil the extent of the deception, the woman embarked on an online investigation of her own. Her relentless quest for the truth led her to a disturbing revelation—her lover had previously swindled numerous other women using the same modus operandi.

In a courageous act, the victim promptly contacted the local authorities, alerting them to the deceit that had tainted her romantic escapade. Serdang's police force swiftly took action, intercepting the couple during their vacation. The suspect's arrest followed suit, transpiring at approximately 8:30 PM on September 29. Subsequently, the accused was handed over to the Serdang police for further interrogation, where he remains in custody until October 4.

Authorities have since pieced together the suspect's pattern of targeting vulnerable women on social media platforms, weaving elaborate tales of wealth and success before callously requesting loans. ACP Anbalagan has issued a plea to other victims ensnared by this unscrupulous con artist, urging them to file police reports without delay.
