A sudden flash flood at Subang Parade shopping center in Petaling Jaya wreaked havoc, notably destroying an intricately designed kolam, set up for Deepavali.

The kolam, an intricate and colorful rice flour art traditionally made for Deepavali, symbolizes good fortune and joy.

Kolam sadly washed away by floods

Unfortunately, the heavy rain that led to the flooding of the mall’s ground floor and basement parking also washed away this beautiful artwork, leaving the community and visitors disheartened.

While the flood’s impact was swiftly managed by the mall’s staff and emergency services, the loss of the kolam was deeply felt.

Its destruction has resonated deeply with the community. TikTok users have been actively sharing clips showing the ravaged artwork.

According to Harian Metro, Hektar Property Services Sdn Bhd, managing Subang Parade, assured that there were no injuries, and efforts are underway to restore the mall to its usual state.

In a brief response to the flooding, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed their team’s quick action in addressing the situation and ensuring safety.
