Sindumin Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob is not affected by criticisms for deciding to support Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“Maybe they do not understand and labelled us ‘frogs’ or accused of being bought over,” he said.

“Our agenda is clear which is for Sabah. Naysayers can say anything as they do not know our intentions…I do not want to dwell on that.”

As right-minded politicians, he said, they need to take into consideration the current situation and analyse it.

“They need to think far ahead, not only on today,” he said.

Welcoming Awang Ahmad into the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) fold, he is confident that the other GRS leaders would also welcome him with open arms.

“Let bygones be bygones as politics are dynamic – it will shift in parallel with time and situation.” Asked on the departure of other Warisan leaders, he said it is for them to decide.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that he did not receive any show-cause letter from central Umno for going against the party’s state liaison body’s previous decision of not supporting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“I thought I was already accepted as an Umno member as I have submitted my form to the party’s state liaison office.

“But I got to know that some Umno leaders are not keen on me joining Umno…perhaps they are afraid of me becoming their competitors.

“But, it is all right. I am a politician and I need to have a platform for my struggle, so, I decided to join Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat),” he said.
