The Delhi government on Wednesday assured all possible assistance to the families affected by the devastating fire that broke out at a hotel in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar, claiming several lives and leaving many others injured.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said she was “deeply saddened" by the loss of lives in the incident and extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

She also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and strength for all those affected. The Chief Minister said that immediately after information about the fire was received, teams from the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), CATS Ambulance Services, and other emergency response agencies were mobilised, and rescue and relief operations were launched.

She noted that the swift response of the agencies helped rescue and evacuate several people from the affected premises. “The Delhi Government is closely monitoring the situation. All necessary medical assistance and support are being extended to the affected families," Gupta said, adding that the government stands firmly with those impacted and remains committed to providing every possible support during this difficult time.

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu also expressed anguish over the incident, describing himself as “deeply distressed" by the tragic fire. He conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The LG said police, civil administration, and fire rescue teams were carrying out operations at the site.

He added that officials had been directed to ensure immediate medical aid and relief measures, besides conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries caused by the fire. He conveyed his condolences to the affected families and wished a speedy recovery to those undergoing treatment. Sood lauded the efforts of firefighters, police personnel, medical teams, and other emergency responders involved in the rescue operation.

“My thoughts and prayers are with every individual and family affected by this unfortunate tragedy," he said. Authorities are continuing rescue, relief, and investigation efforts to ascertain the cause of the fire.
