Delhi Police have unearthed two inter-state illegal arms supply syndicates and arrested six accused with firearms procured from Madhya Pradesh that were allegedly meant to be supplied to members of the Manjeet Mahal, Gogi and Randeep Bhati gangs, officials said on Friday.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar (38), Sunil (33), Yogesh (32), Rajat (27), Saurabh (27) and Nikhil (21).

Police recovered 26 semi-automatic pistols, eight live cartridges, mobile phones and SIM cards allegedly used for transporting illegal firearms. All six accused have previously been involved in criminal cases.

According to police, the operation was launched following specific intelligence that a syndicate of arms traffickers based in Burhanpur and Khargone districts of Madhya Pradesh was supplying illegal firearms to criminals in Delhi-NCR.

During the first operation, police apprehended two members of the syndicate near Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Tahirpur. A total of 15 illegal firearms were recovered from their bags.

During interrogation at the spot, police found that Ravi Kumar had allegedly travelled to Madhya Pradesh on the instructions of Sunil Tanwar to procure the firearms from a supplier based in Burhanpur. He had allegedly reached the area near the hospital to deliver the consignment to Sunil.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered at the Special Cell police station, and both accused were arrested.

In the second operation, acting on intelligence inputs, police arrested Nikhil, a resident of New Kondli, near the helipad in Rohini when he allegedly arrived to deliver a consignment of illegal firearms to one of his contacts.

A thorough search of his person and bag led to the recovery of five illegal pistols. He was immediately apprehended and a case was registered under relevant sections of law at the Special Cell police station.

During interrogation, Ravi and Sunil revealed that Ravi sourced the firearms from a Madhya Pradesh-based supplier and supplied them to several contacts of Sunil, including Yogesh, Rajat and Saurabh in Delhi-NCR. The two had allegedly been involved in procuring and supplying illegal firearms from Burhanpur and Khargone for the past four to five years.

Yogesh told investigators that he procured illegal firearms from Sunil and supplied them to various criminals.

Rajat, alias Rajju, revealed that he became involved in criminal activities after coming into contact with Sunil. He allegedly procured firearms from him and supplied them to his associates.

Saurabh stated that he had been in contact with Rajat and procured illegal firearms from him. He also allegedly used the weapons to commit crimes.

Nikhil told police that he sourced illegal firearms from suppliers in Madhya Pradesh and sold them to criminals in Delhi-NCR.
