Deliver on MA63 this Malaysia Day, says LDP leader

Kota Kinabalu: The Federal Government must deliver concrete progress on Sabah’s 40 per cent net revenue entitlement this Malaysia Day and not leave Sabahans disappointed again, said Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President and Api-Api Division Chairman Sim Fui (pic).

Welcoming Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcements on the 40pc entitlement and increased parliamentary representation for Sabah and Sarawak, Sim said Sabahans had waited long enough and now expected implementation rather than further promises.

He said the proposed RM1.5 billion interim special grant was a positive start but Sabah ultimately needed a complete implementation mechanism, clear calculation formula and definite timeline for the 40pc entitlement.

On parliamentary representation, Sim said any increase should result in Sabah and Sarawak securing a genuinely greater proportion of seats rather than simply adding seats while leaving their overall share largely unchanged.

“September 16 is not only a day to commemorate the formation of Malaysia. It should also become a day when the commitments under MA63 are fulfilled. The people have waited for many years. This time, we hope to see action, a clear timeline and tangible results,” he said.
