Lahad Datu Umno head Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul said he was very sympathetic and upset with the demolition, claiming those affected are Bumiputera.
According to Sharif, a new settlement must be established for those involved because they have been occupying the village for a long time.
He requested Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the State Government to sympathise and defend the villagers who now are displaced.

It is understood that the houses were squatting on private land while the residents had previously received a court notice of eviction.
