Departing Southampton boss Ruben Selles has accepted his axing.
Selles will leave after Southampton's relegation.
He said, "It was a very simple meeting, they said they will not continue the relationship after my contract has passed. I showed what I will do if I stayed and the decision was for them and not for me.
"I did as much as I can. I showed up and made the team competitive, we didn't get the result we wanted but I put everything in all the time. I did my best and that's the reality. I can't change the decision from the owners, I just need to prepare as best as possible for the Liverpool game now.
"Maybe with more time it would've been different but we are not here to make excuses and we should've done it all with the tools we had. I want to stay in England and at the Premier League level. My target has always been competing with the best and be back as quick as possible."
