Last Friday night (December 9), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim selected the deputy ministers for all departments, and all of them have clocked into work this morning.
Pakatan Harapan’s Adam Adli Abdul Halim, the deputy Minister of youth & sports was seen clocking in outside his office today at 9:52 am, as reported by BERNAMA.
Government servants usually have flexible working hours as they are expected to clock in anytime between 7:30am – 9am. Anytime after that will result in the clock in hours being red in color.
“Show-cause letter on the first day itself?”
Adam’s clock-in hour raised many questions among many Malaysians, especially those who also work in the government sector, with some of them saying he was already late on his first day on the job itself.
A netizen sarcastically commented and said that Adam clocked in a little too early.
“You should’ve clocked in at 9:59 am, a minute before break time. Don’t worry about the red card, just do a show-cause letter. Happy working, YB. Carry out your duty and responsibilities that the rakyat has given.”
“Red numbers on your punch card,” said another.
One user commented, “Hey, people clock in to work at 8am. Your attitude on the first day itself shows a lot about what we might face.”
“Show-cause letter on your first day? Come early tomorrow.”
Another netizen highlighted that a leader should set a good example to society, so the underlings might imitate what their superior is doing.
“No wonder people are questioning the quality of public service. The leader itself is coming late, and the underlings may just follow in the same footsteps. Fortunately, many still maintain their discipline.”
Another jokingly said, “9:52am? Push up 20 times there please!”
