The ongoing stand-off between two factions of lawyers in the District Bar Association remained unresolved as they refused to comply with the directions of the Bar Council of India regarding elections scheduled on June 12.
A BCI letter was received by the DBA, Hisar, which stated that elections of a Bar Association cannot be permitted to be conducted in a manner inconsistent with the applicable Rules, directions and regulatory framework of the Bar Council of India and the concerned State Bar Council. It further added that any election conducted in breach of such rules or directions would be liable to be interfered with by the competent authority in accordance with law.
However, a faction of the DBA, Hisar, held a meeting which is called the General House meeting that announced going ahead with the scheduled process of conducting the elections which are being held by returning office Deelip Jakhar. It was also decided at the meeting that a detailed reply of the notice would be submitted to the BCI.
Notably, on May 29, the final list of candidates for the District Bar Association elections was released. A total of 17 candidates are in the fray for various posts.
