- Francis Owens, a 74-year-old gardener and landscaper, tragically died in a large fire that erupted in fields behind Berrington Road in Chipping Campden on Monday.
- Emergency services were alerted at 5.38pm and deployed 13 fire engines to tackle the blaze, but Mr Owens was pronounced dead at the scene.
- His son, Patrick Owens, paid tribute to his father, describing him as 'the Renaissance man of Chipping Campden' and an 'amazing father' who was devoted to his wife, Mandy, for 50 years.
- Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service's deputy chief fire officer, Nathaniel Hooton, extended condolences to the family and praised the 'extremely hard' work of the multi-agency response, including Hereford and Worcester and Warwickshire fire services.
- The cause of the fire remains unknown, but Gloucestershire Constabulary has stated that they do not suspect any third-party involvement in Mr Owens' death.
