THE Dewan Rakyat today formally approved the 2026 Supply Bill, following its presentation by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 10 October.
The legislation passed after securing the majority support of Members of Parliament through a voice vote.
Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, announced the bill’s approval after the third reading was delivered by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Earlier, on 4 November, the House had approved the 2026 Supply Bill at the second reading stage following a division vote. A total of 120 MPs voted in favour, 67 against, 35 were absent, and one abstained from voting.
The 2026 Budget, the fourth under the MADANI administration, is the first to be implemented within the framework of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).
The budget, themed “Belanjawan Rakyat” or “People’s Budget,” allocates RM470 billion in public expenditure. Of this, RM338.2 billion is earmarked for operating expenses, while RM81 billion is set aside for development projects.
The budget also includes investments in government-linked companies amounting to RM30 billion, public-private partnerships valued at RM10 billion, and allocations to federal statutory bodies and Ministry of Finance Incorporated companies totaling RM10.8 billion.
This approval enables the government to proceed with planned programmes aimed at economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare, reflecting a commitment to the priorities of the people under the MADANI governance framework. - December 1, 2025
