
The Dewan Rakyat has granted approval to the Supplementary Supply Bill (2023) 2024, authorizing the withdrawal of funds not exceeding RM23,479,669,350 from the Consolidated Fund to cover additional expenses for services in 2023. The bill, which underwent its second reading yesterday, was presented by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan. It encompasses additional allocations for various sectors, including Treasury General Services, Statutory Funds, the Ministry of Education (MoE), and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.
Specifically, the supplementary allocations include RM14,486,540,550 for Treasury General Services, RM4,204,668,800 for Statutory Funds, RM1,973,724,300 for the Ministry of Education, and RM1,174,138,000 for the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living. Additionally, funds have been allocated to the Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Defence, Election Commission, Public Service Department, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Ministry of Health is set to receive RM687,892,500, while the Ministry of Defence will obtain RM410,530,750. The Election Commission has been allocated RM300,000,000, followed by RM153,263,900 for the Public Service Department, RM56,910,550 for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, and RM32,000,000 for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
This decision underscores the government's commitment to addressing various sectors' needs and ensuring the efficient utilization of funds for the betterment of society.
