KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Supply Bill 2027 (Budget 2027) at the policy stage following debates that began on Oct 12.

The bill, tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, on Oct 9, was passed through a voice vote, with more members voting in favour.

Budget 2027, themed “Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values”, outlines eight key pillars, covering commitments to improving people’s lives and strengthening the country’s resilience and future.

The fifth budget under the MADANI Government involves an allocation of RM459.8 billion, in addition to RM25 billion in investments from government-linked investment companies, RM11 billion in public-private investments, and RM14.2 billion in investments by federal statutory bodies and Minister of Finance Incorporated companies.

This brings the overall value of Budget 2027 to RM510 billion, maintaining an expansionary fiscal policy.

According to the parliamentary calendar, the committee-stage debate on the bill is scheduled to take place from Nov 2 to 26.
