Dewan Rakyat to continue enforcing Covid-19 prevention measures

KUALA LUMPUR – The upcoming Dewan Rakyat session, set to take place from October 3 to November 29, will see the continued enforcement of Covid-19 prevention measures.

In a letter to MPs dated yesterday (September 29), Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin said that the third meeting of the fifth term of the 14th Parliament will involve certain safety procedures to ensure the well-being of all in attendance.

The letter included an attachment which detailed the safety measures, among which are that only media personnel, visitors, and officers who have obtained prior approval and are asymptomatic will be permitted entry into the Parliament hall.

Additionally, the number of media personnel, visitors and officers allowed to observe proceedings will be subject to “the needs of ministries for parliamentary consideration.”

Besides that, it is “highly encouraged” to wear face masks and to practise at least one metre of social distancing while at the Parliament complex.

“Attendees must practise self-hygiene such as washing their hands with soap and water or using hand sanitiser as frequently as possible,” the attachment read.

Besides frequent cleaning of exposed surfaces such as doorknobs and light switches, sanitisation works will also be conducted in the Parliament hall every day it convenes, with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department.

Other standard operating procedures outlined under the Health Ministry’s MySOP guide will also remain in place. – The Vibes, September 30, 2022
