Former Anderlecht star Jan Mulder has blasted Vincent Kompany's player-manager's role.

Mulder is adamant the dual job isn't working for the Manchester City icon.

He told VTM: The role of player-coach is no good. I wonder who came up with that. Whether he didn't want that himself. It has been a slight overestimation of Kompany's job as a coach.

"He does not have a diploma and it makes training so ridiculous. Slowly but surely that is starting to get through. He cannot criticise his fellow players if he plays poorly himself - it was bad against Kortrijk, otherwise he plays well, you know.

There must be a fighting spirit, and that is difficult to achieve, if you have a player who is 100 metres above the dressing room, a group of young people who wisely say nothing, and ravaged players like (Sven) Kums and (Adrien) Trebel who also say nothing. The atmosphere is not optimal."
