Former Italy fullback Alberto di Chiara has declared Roma coach Jose Mourinho a "fox"

Roma won the first-leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie last night 2-0 against Real Sociedad.

Di Chiara told TMW: "Mourinho's team is quite particular, he's a fox who manages to bring out the pride in the players even in times of difficulty. A pride that leads to results and has also been seen in the European Cups of which he is a great expert.

"Roma, as are the direct pursuers of Napoli in the league, has an almost 'continuous' discontinuity. Even Lazio itself went on to lose a home game in the Conference after the success of the Maradona, while Roma, which should have played the most difficult, won with merit.

"Mourinho is always to be taken into consideration, even last year he won the Conference. In the Europa League, which he has already won, he has ambitions that he always manages to pass on to his men. He has that winning mentality that it always leads to results."

The former fullback also said: "Mourinho is a great communication expert and always manages to get into the hearts of the fans, in this case the Roma supporter who is an integral part of the team. Understanding that in a football context where there are few technical individualities, he has to create a cohesive group and be organised, not so much for the show but for the players' minds."
