The Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties (AIMSS), Chamiyana in Shimla district, has launched a dialysis facility, which will be available to admitted patients. “We have started the dialysis facility for patients admitted to the hospital. Many patients need dialysis while undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments,” said Dr Sudhir Sharma, Medical Superintendent, AIMSS, Chamiyana.

Dr Sharma said that the facility was available at the IGMC, Shimla, until now and patients requiring dialysis had to be shifted there. “Now, we can handle up to six dialysis patients at a time,” he added. Once outside the hospital, patients generally get dialysis done at private centres under a government scheme.

Dr Sharma said that the kidney-related ailments were on the rise and the facility would help such patients.

He added that another key facility of MRI would be available at the hospital in about a month’s time.

Dr Sharma said that land had been identified for the construction of a parking lot close to the hospital.

Even as the hospital is adding new facilities for the patients, the approach road continues to be a problem. According to information, land has been acquired for widening the narrow stretch of the road but not much progress is visible on the ground.
