Didn’t get the GCSE results you hoped for? Here’s what you can do

• Students who have just missed their required grades should first speak to their preferred school or college to check for flexibility on entry requirements.
• In England, pupils unhappy with a grade can request an exam board marking review via their school or college, followed by a potential appeal.
• Students can resit any GCSE exam the following summer, though English language and maths retakes can be taken earlier.
• Students in England who do not achieve at least a grade 4 in English language and/or maths are required to retake the subjects during post-16 education.
• Funding is provided for English and maths retakes until a grade 4 to 9 is achieved.
