ONLINE gaming operator DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is pursuing both local and international expansion as it works to deepen player engagement and diversify its operations, a company executive said.
In an interview last week, DigiPlus President Andy Tsui said the company was looking to develop an omni-channel ecosystem that integrates its online gaming platform with on-site services at New Coast Hotel, which DigiPlus is in the process of acquiring.
“We are looking at more digital entertainment content that will enrich our offering on our platform,” Tsui said.
He explained that the strategy allows users to access both online and land-based entertainment, increasing overall spending and retention.
DigiPlus has already made an initial P6‑billion payment to International Entertainment Corp. (IEC), the owner of New Coast Hotel, and expects to complete the final payment by end-May or early June.
Under the November 2025 agreement, DigiPlus subscribed to P12 billion worth of convertible notes, which would give it a roughly 54 percent stake in IEC once converted.
Tsui noted that any expansion at the hotel must be approved by the Philippine Competition Commission, a process that could take six to nine months, with the earliest implementation expected next year.
On the international stage, DigiPlus continues to focus on the Brazilian market, where it has been developing localized games following the acquisition of a gaming license in early 2025.
Tsui said that while the market there remained competitive with both local operators and international brands such as Bet365, DigiPlus expects to ramp up its operations in Brazil over time.
The company had also submitted a license application in South Africa last September, with approval expected in the second quarter of this year, although plans for other jurisdictions are said to be still in the early stages.
Tsui also highlighted the company’s use of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to enhance both operations and player experience, explaining that AI is used to personalize promotions, monitor player behavior for responsible gaming and develop games internally.
“We use AI to send out all the promotion credits to the player and we can customize them based on their activity,” he added.
With AI, he said that the company’s systems could identify potential problem players and issue reminders or alerts to help ensure safe gameplay.
DigiPlus said its AI and data capabilities were developed in-house with support from overseas talent, allowing it to provide a more engaging and safer gaming environment for users.
DigiPlus shares fell P0.56, or 3.29 percent, to close at P16.46 each on Friday.
