The Digital Ministry and its agencies will assist those affected by the recent gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Selangor.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, during his visit to the temporary relief centre at Masjid Putra Heights this morning, said the ministry was informed that many victims had either lost or damaged their devices during the incident.

“As such, the Digital Ministry will provide 100 laptops, 100 tablets, 100 smartphones, and 500 power banks to victims in need of such devices,” said Gobind.

He added that applications for these devices can be made, starting today, through the service centre of Kota Kemuning assemblyman S. Preakas.

MyDigital Corporation, an agency under the ministry, will work closely with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) and the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office to provide an online platform to ensure clear information and timely updates for the victims.

“I also take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly to help those affected in this incident,” Gobind said.

“The Digital Ministry and its agencies will continue to work closely with those affected by the incident. It is our sincere hope that those who were injured will recover safely, and that those who suffered losses will receive the necessary assistance to help them during this trying time.”

Malaysians were jolted on April 1 when a gas pipeline leak near housing estates in Putra Heights, some 30km from Kuala Lumpur, triggered an inferno that left many injured and caused massive destruction.

Some 305 people were injured, 237 homes were affected, and 365 vehicles were damaged. Authorities are still probing the cause of the incident.
