DIGITAL Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the government is finalising the Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy 2026–2030 while simultaneously preparing the relevant institutions needed to ensure its execution.
Speaking after officiating at the RHB Digital Trust Programme, Gobind said the administration’s focus has shifted beyond policy formulation towards building the enforcement and governance mechanisms required to strengthen Malaysia’s digital resilience.
"I hope that in the third quarter of this year, we can present that strategy and also launch the agency that will implement it. Behind that strategy, we also need an agency to ensure its implementation.
"It is an existing agency, but we will have to restructure it so that it can also oversee and enforce the strategy," he told reporters.
The upcoming strategy comes amid growing concerns over cyber threats, data vulnerabilities and digital fraud as Malaysia accelerates digital transformation across government services, financial systems and business operations.
In a parallel industry initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity preparedness among businesses, RHB Bank today launched the RHB Digital Trust Programme, introducing RHB CyberSecure, described as Malaysia’s first bank-led cybersecurity self-assessment tool for small and medium enterprises.
According to RHB, the platform is designed to help SMEs identify cyber and fraud-related vulnerabilities while evaluating their level of cybersecurity readiness, enabling businesses to make more informed decisions in strengthening their digital defences.
As part of the programme, RHB Bank and CyberSecurity Malaysia also exchanged a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cyber awareness, resilience and capability-building among Malaysian businesses through joint initiatives and industry collaboration.
CyberSecurity Malaysia acting chief executive officer Roshdi Ahmad said strengthening the nation’s digital ecosystem requires coordinated action between public institutions and private sector players.
"This partnership with RHB highlights the importance of industry-led initiatives in building cyber resilience. By equipping SMEs with practical tools and knowledge, we are supporting businesses in managing evolving cyber threats while strengthening overall digital trust," he said. - May 21, 2026
