THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Tuesday that its anti-graft online tracking system, Subaybayan ang Proyektong Bayan (SubayBAYAN), has monitored more than 80,000 local government projects since 2022.
In a statement, the DILG said 80,949 locally funded projects have been monitored through SubayBAYAN, which allows the public to track the implementation of projects and monitor how local government units (LGUs) use public funds.
The agency said the monitored projects include 17,739 funded under the Local Government Support Fund and 63,210 financed through the 20 percent LGU Development Fund.
The DILG cited the implementation of its full disclosure policy, which requires LGUs to publicly disclose key financial and governance documents.
According to the agency, 1,638 LGUs, or 95 percent nationwide, are compliant with the policy, including 1,419 municipalities, 142 cities and 77 provinces. Nearly 37,000 villages, or 92 percent nationwide, have also complied.
To strengthen citizen participation in local governance, the DILG said 50,629 civil society organizations have been accredited by LGUs, while 1,511 civil society organization desks have been established to facilitate public participation in monitoring local government programs and projects.
The DILG said it will continue strengthening monitoring and accountability mechanisms to help ensure public funds are used efficiently and government projects are implemented as intended.
