DILG confirms Interpol red notices vs Atong Ang, Bantag, Dumlao

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday confirmed that the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued red notices against three high-profile Filipino fugitives: businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag, and former police Lt. Col. Rafael Dumlao III.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla made the disclosure during a press briefing in Valenzuela City, saying the three remain at large despite an extensive manhunt involving more than 200,000 police personnel nationwide.

“There is a red notice against Bantag, there is a red notice against Atong Ang, there is a red notice against Dumlao,” Remulla said.

He said the difficulty in locating the fugitives was due to several factors, including the country’s geography and the suspects’ resources.

“Number one, we have 7,000 islands. Number two, we have a porous border down south. Number three, the people we are looking for have a lot of money and many ways,” Remulla said.

Remulla said that the red notice against Ang was issued in January 2026.

'With that, anywhere in the world, once he is found, he will automatically be deported back to the Philippines,” he said.

Ang has been implicated in the disappearance of several sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts.

Bantag was linked to the October 2022 killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid and the subsequent death of inmate Jun Villamor, who was tagged as the alleged middleman in the case.

Dumlao was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the 2016 killing of South Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo inside the national police headquarters. He has been in hiding since his conviction for murder.
